Torrevieja offers an ideal scenario for family fishing, offering a more “light” fishing experience ideal for families with children.
Here's how we divide the fishing seasons
along the Torrevieja coast:
Winter Season (December to February): Known as the off-peak season, winter sees smaller fish retreat from the coast, focusing our efforts on catching small fish and squid used as live bait for Dentex, our winter kings. Other species encountered during winter include Bonito, some lingering small tunas from the previous season, and occasional large bream.
Spring Season (March to May): Spring brings warmer water temperatures across most Mediterranean coastal areas. These conditions often necessitate venturing further offshore for better fishing results, especially as we plan early morning charters to avoid the extreme midday heat. Our afternoon charters, from 4 pm to 9 pm, capitalize on the ideal fishing conditions at sunset, yielding excellent catches such as Bonito and Amberjack.
Summer Season (June to August): The summer season welcomes the return of prized tunas, concluding their mating season and migrating back to the Atlantic Ocean. June marks the peak for capturing these giants weighing up to 400kg. Since 2019, GoBoating has organized an exclusive event allowing clients to catch and bring ashore a specimen of the prized Yellowfin Tuna. This opportunity is available for a few days only, typically from June 16th to 21st in the Alicante province.
Autumn Season (September to November): Autumn heralds the trolling season, characterized by increased surface activity of local species like Mahi Mahi, Bonito, tunas, and Bluefish, with October offering optimal fishing conditions.
At GoBoating, we strive to engage the best captains in each region, understanding that their expertise makes all the difference. We emphasize to our clients that fishing guarantees no catches, but with skilled guidance, success is within reach.
